MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

Wife of a Sailor ( has been doing this for the last few weeks.  I'm new to it, so here it goes:

1.What food reminds you of your spouse?
Little Caesar's pizza.  When we were dating and first married, we would pick up a pizza, drive to a park, and down the whole thing.  The thought of it now makes me sick.  TUMS, please.

2.Who would you rather sit next to in a cross-country plane ride: an irritating non-stop talker, or a quiet stare-er?
A quiet stare-er, please.  Nothing like wanting to take a nap or read a book and have someone next to you who cannot pick on very obvious non verbals.

3.What are your best tips on how to save money?
Clip coupons.  They're free and will save you lots of money over time.  Why pay full price for anything when you don't have to, especially when it takes 2 seconds to cut out a coupon?  I think it's also important to meal plan for the week.  Dropping by the grocery store for this or that several times during the week really adds up over time.  Oh, and don't spend money you don't have.  There's no point living a dishonest lifestyle just so strangers can be impressed with the things that you bought that you can't afford.

4.What is your favorite summer memory?
Going to the pool with my family.  Marco Polo, anyone?

5.Do you believe in ghosts?
No.  I believe we live in a spiritual world.  But I don't believe in ghosts in the same way that many do.  I've had some pretty creepy encounters during my life.  Eeek.

I'd love to hear your responses!  Especially to #3 - I'm always looking for ways to trim up the budget!

Before I go grocery shopping, I make out a menu for 2 weeks. This keeps us accountable and we eat out less often.

Ashley - Wow! 2 weeks? I have a friend that does that and I'm amazed that you can get the groceries to fit in the cart for 2 weeks. I'm amazed.

2 Weeks wow! We have tried for just a couple days but with a house filled with people that cannot make up their mind we end up going out to eat more if we try to plan our meals ahead of time because we won't feel like a certain meal on a certain day, so we say screw it and go out to eat. We find it best to do shotgun shopping where you buy a little of everything and then work your way down to just about nothing then go shopping again. I am sure Dave Ramsey wouldn't approve but it works for us. said...

Your food story is so sweet!

Thanks for joining! Hope to see you next week!

I get flyers from Kroger and Meijer, and shop at Walmart. They honor their ads and I save so much!!

Jill said...

JannaO - I would never have thought to do that. Do you just bring the ads up with you to the register?

In answer to your Walmart question, you don't have to bring the ads but I would in case you get a stick-in-the butt cashier. I coupon too and I just don't go clothes shopping unless I have money to spend.
