I really enjoyed reading through the Psalms this week. Psalms has always been a book that I turn to when life gets hard and I need reminded of Who God is. The book is full of truths - His power, His mercy, His creation, His wonder... and His steadfast love. I never noticed before how much David uses that term - steadfast love.
I wrote about wisdom in my Week 6 entry, so I won't go into that again with Proverbs. But if anything important comes to mind, is that we should hold Godly wisdom in high esteem. We should actively seek after it and also be weary of those in our life who are not wise. The company that we keep and the counsel that we seek should also be seeking wisdom in their lives.
Do you have a favorite Psalm or Proverb from this week? Or is there a Psalm or Proverb that you cling to on a daily basis? Psalm 46:10 has been a verse that I've held on tightly to the last few years. It says, "Be still and know that I am God". That verse has gotten me through three deployments and some dark days in my marriage. God is sovereign and He holds all things in His hand.
Be Still and Know by Steven Curtis Chapman
Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know that He is holy
Be still, O restless soul of mine
Bow before the Prince of peace
Let the noise and clamor cease
Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know that He is faithful
Consider all that He has done
Stand in awe and be amazed
And know that He will never change
Be still
Be still, and know that He is God
Be still, and know that He is God
Be still, and know that He is God
Be still; Be speechless
Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know He is our Father
Come rest your head upon His breast
Listen to the rhythm of His unfailing heart of love
Beating for His little ones
Calling each of us to come
Be still, Be still
